The Locanda di Palazzo Cicala, hotel in Genoa city centre, presents the “Festival Internazionale di Poesia” (literally, International Festival for Poetry), which is at its 15th edition this year, and it has been announced to be spectacular. From 12/06 to 21/06/2009.
At its 15th edition the most important poetry event all over Italy will be having a sort of "collection" aspect, having invited some of the most prominent names of the previous editions, from 1995 up to today. Nobel-prize winners Walcott and Soyinka, Ferlinghetti, Houellebecq, Maraini, Jodorowsky, Simic, Armitage, Adonis are just some of the over 700 poets and artists who have participated to the "Festival Internazionale di Poesia" over these past years.
Within the Festival there will be a special section called "Parole spalancate" (literally, "Words Wide-Open") which will be more widely dedicated to the oral and performing production, with poets cooperating and confronting with musicians and visual artists.
The Festival will not only be a sort of "Best of", but will also have an entire section for Futurism, which in 2009 will reach its 100th anniversary, with special guests and exclusive shows. Events such as "Notte della Poesia" (literally, "Poetry Night"; more than 60 shows from 9 pm until late at night, moving from museums to the beach), "Percorsi Poetici" (literally, "Poetic Routes"; guided tours, following those traces left behind by poets and writers who lived, even for a short while, in Genoa), and Bloomsday (June 16th, with an unabridged reading of Joyce's Ulysses in 23 different venues and by 200 readers, chosen among famous and common Joyce lovers) will be underlined once again.
Furthermore in the section "La Ricostruzione Poetica dell'Universo" (literally, "The Poetic Reconstruction of the Universe") artists, architects, philosophers, writers and designers will talk about possible future environment, more "man-proportioned", where beauty and poetic sensibility are more than the optional features they are nowadays.
The Festival will also host the "European Voices" review, dedicated to contemporary European poetry, which will subsequently stop also in Barcelona, Bucharest, Amsterdam and London.
